Advocacy Letter RT Recruitment and Retention- Reclassification

The BCSRT board of directors would like to recognize every one of you for your hard work and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic. We realize that many of you were feeling overworked, underpaid and underappreciated after HSA did not reclassify RTs in the last round of collective bargaining in BC. While the COVID-19 pandemic has increased stress and workload for RTs across the province, it has also highlighted the integral role of respiratory therapists in healthcare. The BCSRT board of directors wants to ensure that RTs are recognized as playing a vital role in all facets of healthcare, by being reclassified and compensated accurately in the 2022 collective agreement. We have drafted an advocacy template letter for members to send to HSA, HEABC, MLAs and the BC Minister of Health.
