TRU is Hiring a Full Time Lecturer


Thompson Rivers University invites applications for a bipartite tenure-track position at the rank of Lecturer in the Respiratory Therapy Program, Allied Health Department, Faculty of Science.

The department has broad interests and seeks a faculty member who demonstrates strong undergraduate teaching experience and potential scholarly activity. The candidate will be expected to teach in a variety of settings which may include any of the following: classroom, laboratory, patient clinic, and simulation environments. The candidate needs to have the capacity and interest to teach community health and chronic disease management curricula. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2019.

The Allied Health Department is committed to providing its students with a quality education emphasizing a professional, accountable, collaborative approach to learning. Students can expect opportunities for practical, hands-on experience across the full spectrum of cardiorespiratory care in the classroom, in the lab, and in the clinical setting. In addition, there are opportunities for students to work with local and provincial clinicians from a variety of health profession disciplines.

Programs offered through the Allied Health Department include Respiratory Therapy Diploma, Respiratory Therapy Dual Credential (RT Diploma and Bachelor of Health Science) and Bachelor of Health Science. The Department is the academic home for the following Open Learning division programs:  Bachelor of Health Science, Anesthesia Assistant, Polysomnography, Medical Laboratory Assistant, and Pre-Health Science programs.


Our graduates have an excellent reputation for being strong clinicians. Many of our graduates are highly successful and have gone on to careers in the various aspects of the respiratory therapy profession, healthcare administration and management, research, education and medicine.

  • Baccalaureate degree in relevant discipline; Master’s preferred
  • RRT credential
  • Respiratory Therapy student teaching experience
  • Experience in chronic disease management
  • Recent RRT clinical experience of 5 years or greater
  • Evidence of teaching experience
  • Evidence of research experience or potential
